  • Ok, You got me!

I've had quite a nice reception to this site to be honest and I’m surprised. I had a preconception that as soon as i got here id make 1 post and have 20 comments saying "you suck", "your gay" and all the other crap that idiots usually spout out of there arse while typing with their index finger only.

So I’ve decided to stay... yes... I’m here and your sure as hell not getting rid of me without a long pointy stick, a tube of super glue and a rabid hamster (name that line and win a prize lol).

So what to write about? I'm going to be blogging about World of Warcraft, The world of IT, Music and whatever else I can think of in the time between when I’m supposed to start work and the time I should finish. Granted I’m normally out of the door well before I should finish and it’s very rare that I’m here on time. So in all fairness I do have limited time to blog ;).

Keep tuned! It gets better I promise...

  • The Cloud

What are my views on the future of computing?

I have to admit I have never actually been asked this question, but this being said it doesn’t change the fact that I have views and I want to voice them. So whether I’m asked or not I am going to tell you all what I think the future of computing will look like from my point of view.

Two words… The Cloud. Yes I know its been vloged blogged and ranted about for a while now but have you ever thought why? The cloud is here right now, were on it.

Think about how you use your computer today. You sit down at your very messy desk, reach across and switch on your box. You wait a few seconds and then the POST screen gets displayed on your monitor… then the various tests are run… then the windows logo… then a black screen… then the windows sound play way too loud because you forgot to turn your speakers down…. Then finally… after minutes of waiting… you get to your login screen! *yey*. But that’s not it, your not actually working yet are you, your still sat there looking at your desktop… you now have to find the program you want to run and then wait for that to open also!

Anyway you get the picture, the current way of using computers is a pain in the arse, you take 5 minutes booting the thing up and when you finaly get into windows you have to wait another 3 minutes for your applications to load. Well, this is where the cloud makes it all fun and games.

Here is how your computer would work if cloud computing was a reality on desktop PC’s.

You sit down at your still very messy desk, reach across and switch on your box. You wait a few seconds to see the POST screen… and then your computer scans its own memory, internet connection and other devices to check if everything’s ok… then your greeted with your webtop with all of the programs you could ever need neatly organized. Along side your programs you have live stock details, news and whatever else you could ever want all streaming live. Maybe even auto login to remote server admin (random I know). From here it takes seconds to open apps due to the fact your on a super fast internet connection from your 1GB WAN ISP. You get the idea.

The only problem is that we are a long way away from this being the norm in computing. Before we get to the stage I just described we would need many changes in the way we think and the way our technology works. Faster internet connections, unlimited bandwidth, better internet protocols, super secure data encryption, secure data centres with insanely fast access. Yep like I said, a looong way away but we are getting there. Look at google.com/ig, all you have to do is create an account and you can customize your webtop however you like! Have googledocs wherever you go just by logging on with your details, Gmail, advertisements, analytical tools… all wherever you go if you know your login details.

Ill close on this comment. What would you like from The Cloud?

  • My First Post

Wow so this is bloging is it?

I'm currently sat in a cold printer room at work waiting for my isp to open up some ports on my firewall... so i though id come here and start on what i hope is going to be a half decent first ever blog post.

Now i know your all thinking "Who is this guy?", "Why the hell should i spend seconds out of my life reading this crap?". Well, have you got anything better to do? no? well sit down, shut up and carry on reading as itll be over soon... i promise!

How do you start these things anyway? Oh i know! A little bit about myself, yes that should break the ice... or melt it... or just scratch it a little i don't really care as its quite fun writing like this :-) and even more so because I'm writing on an English keyboard with a Danish key set so all the symbols are mixed up.

Ok, me? I'm 24, male, living in Denmark with my beautiful girlfriend, a Systems Admin at a company called Novatech and adicted to the oh so wonderful World of Warcraft. Yes I'm a WoW geek and proud! Admittedly though its not good for me as WoW = stress! Especial when it all goes tits up in an instance and you realize you just wasted 2 hours of your life pressing the "2" key and right mouse button over and over again... this happened last night by the way :-)

I'm also a music lover, web designer, graphical designer and Visual C# programmer so I've got plenty of things to pass the time.

Wow this has gotten to be quite long hasn't it! i didn't know i could rant this much! Guess ill have to call it a day for this post then. Keep an eye out for new ones though as i have a feeling i may be doing this more and more over the coming weeks :-) and hopefully on a better keyboard!

    Laters!
